How credits work

A simple explanation of how credits are used on the platform

Updated yesterday

Think of credits like tokens at an arcade. You use them to start projects and get content created. Every team has a set number of credits they can use at any one time—this is your production capacity.

Let’s break it down.

What Are Credits?

Credits are the currency you use in Creatively Squared to request creative work—like photos or videos. Each time you brief a new project, it "costs" a certain number of credits, depending on what you're asking for.

How Do Credits Work?

Credits don’t disappear—they recycle. Here’s how:

  1. Start a project → Credits are deducted from your balance.

  2. Project in progress → Those credits are temporarily tied up.

  3. Project finalized → Credits are returned to your account.

Credits return as soon as a project is marked “Finalized”—not just submitted or reviewed.

This system allows you to run multiple projects at the same time, without needing to repurchase credits.

Who Manages Your Credits?

Every team is set up a little differently. Here’s how to understand where your credits come from—and who manages them.

Your account might be set up in one of the following ways:

  • Standalone or Connected Account

These accounts have their own subscription plan with a fixed number of credits. This is called your credit capacity.

Think of it like your own wallet—you manage how and when credits are used.

  • Integrated Account

These accounts draw credits from a shared pool managed by your Organization Admin. They decide how many credits you can use at a time—this is your credit allocation.

Like being on a family plan—your admin assigns credits to different teams as needed.

Not sure which account type you're on?

Here’s how to check:

  1. Click your username in the bottom-left corner.

  2. Select Account Settings.

  3. In the Account tab, go to the Details section.

  4. Look for the field labeled “Account Type.”

Where to See Your Credits

You can view your credit usage anytime on your Dashboard. The usage chart shows:

  • Total credits in your plan (e.g. 250 available)

  • Credits currently in use (e.g. 195 across active projects)

  • Breakdown by project so you know where credits are allocated

You’ll also see your total assets created and projects briefed, so you can track both creative output and production volume at a glance.

What Can I Use Credits For?

Credits are exchanged for creative deliverables. Each type of content has a set credit value. For example:

When filling out a brief, you’ll always see how many credits are required before starting.
